TEXT-Daniel 1:8-17
8)But Daniel purpose in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat,nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore, he requested by of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9)Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10)And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my Lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? Then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11)Then said Daniel to melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Michael, and Azariah.
12)Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days, and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13)Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the King’s meat. And as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14)So he consented to them to them in this matter and proved them ten days.
15)And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all they which did eat the portion of the King’s meat.
16)Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink. And gave them pulse.
17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom. And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Every man created by God cherishes to be great, and greatness comes with its price or sacrifice. Daniel is a boy who was brought to Babylon together with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon captured the people of Isreal and took them for captive in the land of babylon.As the king instructed, those four young Jewish boys were brought to the king’s palace to learn all the laws and things of the Chaldeans, and work under the king, by so doing, they would be fed with the kings food, meat and drinks together with the remaining Chaldean boys. But the Bible say, Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile his life with the food of the king and requested for common vegetable, tubas and water to drink, and God in His faithfulness granted them favor and their request was granted by their supervisor, by faith, Daniel, Shadrak, Meshak and Abednego appeared better than the rest and the Bible says God bless them with wisdom, knowledge and understanding and added to Daniel the blessing of vision and also interpretation of dreams. Daniel was not born with the gift, but God decided to bless him because he made up his mind not to defile himself. If you have been in Christianity for years or a new convert, all I want you to know today is, if you want to be great and you want God to bless you with His power, purpose in your heart not to defile your life. When you defile your life, your body by fornicating, stealing lies, rituals, acultic etc, when you love the things of this world more than God,you will never become great, you dont read and meditate the Bible, you don’t even pray, how do you want God to bless you, nothing goes for nothing, you need to take a stand and decide which side you are, the Bible says, those who know their God shall do exploit (Daniel 11:32).Do you know your God? What exploit have you done? Daniel is a foreigner in babylon, but he became third in comand in babylon, he was thrown into the Lion’s den and the lions could not harm him, shedrach, Meshak and Abednego were thrown into the lake of fire because they refuse to bow down to the idol that king Nebuchadnezzar made, the tell the king to his face that even if our God will not save us, we will not bow for your idol,have you ever been confronted with such challenge that you must decide between Jesus or your life? If you know your God, you will not be afraid, purpose in your heart today not to defile your body and hold on to God and God will bless you, He will surely be with you, and you will come out strong in Jesus name. If you are reading this message and you really want God to help you to purpose in your heart not to defile your body, say this prayer with me, dear Lord please have mercy on me for defiling myself all this while, I need you to help me today I have made up my mind not to defile my body anymore, thank you Jesus, Amen.
